The WEEE Man (activity 6)

The WEEE Man is built from the amount of electrical and electronic waste the average British person creates in their lifetime – about 3.3 tonnes per person.

In Britain over 1 million tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) waste goes to landfill every year. This is not good news: most e–waste is toxic – and Britain is running out of landfill.

The WEEE Man, standing 7m tall, is made from electrical and electronic waste, such as washing machines, TVs, microwaves, vacuum cleaners and mobile phones.

  1. Visit the WEEE Man website to find out more.

Download the activity pack and investigate the number of products in the WEEE Man - think about what your family has thrown away recently, create an e–product life cycle, write a recipe for your own WEEE Man and write a newspaper article about the WEEE Man.
