What it contains

This guideline contains information to assist responsible authorities and planning permit applicants in assessing and preparing planning permit applications for concrete batching facilities of all scales, including mini-mix operations. The guidance outlines:

  • How concrete batching facilities fit into the planning scheme
  • Potential environmental and human health risks posed by concrete batching facilities
  • Appropriate location and siting of concrete batching facilities
  • Relevant legislation for consideration and EPA’s role in the assessment of planning permit applications for concrete batching facilities
  • Planning permit application requirements/recommendations.

This guideline is intended to be read in conjunction with Reducing risk in the premixed concrete industry (EPA Publication 1806), which provides further information regarding understanding and managing risks of harm to human health and the environment presented by concrete batching plants.
