Chairman and CEO
Cheryl Batagol, one of Victoria’s most respected environmental leaders has been appointed to the role of EPA Chairman, and John Merritt has been appointed Chief Executive Officer.
EPA Chairman Cheryl Batagol
Ms Batagol has more than 40 years experience in environmental leadership.
She brings to the role her experience with numerous government boards including Chair of Melbourne Water, Deputy Chair of Sustainability Victoria and a member of the Victorian Catchment Management Council and the Victorian Sustainability Fund Advisory Panel.
Ms Batagol commenced at EPA in September 2009.
EPA Chief Executive Officer John Merritt
Mr Merritt comes to EPA from WorkSafe Victoria, where he was Executive Director of Health and Safety. Prior to joining WorkSafe, he was the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Safety Council of Australia. Mr Merritt has extensive experience in private, government and not-for-profit organisations.
Mr Merritt commenced his role in February 2010
