Who we are
The Environment Protection Authority – or EPA Victoria – has been protecting, caring for and improving our environment since 1971.
EPA Victoria was established as an independent statutory authority under the Environment Protection Act 1970.
The Act defines EPA’s powers, duties and functions, and provides a framework for the prevention and control of air, land and water pollution, and industrial noise.
During the reporting period, the Minister for Environment and Climate Change, the Hon. Gavin Jennings, MLC, was the minister responsible for EPA Victoria.
