Air monitoring
Monitoring for air toxics
As part of EPA Victoria’s commitment to protecting the environment, we have been conducting an air quality monitoring campaign to better understand pollutants known as air toxics.
Airborne particle monitoring
Fine airborne particles are responsible for reducing visibility (due to the scattering and absorption of light) and for soiling and damping buildings. They can also have adverse effects on human health when they are inhaled. The Environment Protection Authority measures the mass of airborne particles, including dust in the air, as part of its air monitoring program.
Air monitoring reports
EPA monitors air quality in order to ensure that the health and wellbeing of Victorians is maintained. Monitoring provides information on the concentration of pollutants in the air. Air monitoring reports are available for the years 1998 through to 2007.
