Event Organisers

Event organisers using beaches in Port Phillip Bay should identify and plan for potential health risks from beach stormwater pollution. On the day before your event — or even on the day — you may decide to cancel, postpone, or alter an event because of the possibility of pollution in the stormwater.

You can assess the risk of poor water quality by using Beach Report forecasts and monitoring rainfall and weather/river level warnings at the Australian Bureau of Meteorology’s (BOM) website.

EPA’s 2011/12 Beach Report season has closed. As a general precaution, we advise people not to swim near stormwater drains, rivers, streams and other outlets into the bay during rain and for at least 24-48 hours afterwards.

Good
Water quality is expected to be suitable for swimming.
Fair
Expected to be generally suitable for swimming but may be affected by stormwater.

Water quality is not recommended for swimming.
Unacceptable
A swim advisory has been issued for this beach.
