ANZ
Our most important role is to work with our clients, helping them to pursue their goals and improve their social and environmental performance. In some cases, where a client’s commitment does not seem evident, we must be prepared to discuss why and whether our relationship is sustainable. ANZ believes that, as a financial institution, its responsibility to society is to create sustainable value to all stakeholders, including customers, shareholders, staff and the community, in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.
Environmental and social issues, both the effects they have and the way they are addressed, can be quite different for each of the stakeholders that a financial institution interacts with. However, they are rarely experienced in isolation to one another either directly or indirectly.
ANZ has adopted principles of sustainability within existing business systems for addressing social and environmental issues.
This entailed incoporating sustainability concepts into the development of new products in addition to the bank’s internal operations.
The bank has also created partnerships with various stakeholders in order to generate better social, envinomental and business outcomes.
