"Human-induced climate change is now a reality and it is incumbent on insurance companies to do everything in their power to reduce the level of risk by implementing programs for a sustainable environment. We acknowledge too, that our corporate social responsibility extends beyond our stakeholders – our people, customers, suppliers and investors – to the wider Australian community."
Mike Hawker, CEO, IAG

Insurance Australia Group Limited (IAG) is an international general insurance group, with operations in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Asia. Its current businesses underwrite more than $7.5 billion of premium per annum.

It employs more than 16,000 people of which around 11,000 are in Australia. It sells insurance under many leading brands including NRMA Insurance, CGU, SGIO and SGIC (Australia); NZI and State (NZ); Equity Red Star and Hastings Direct (UK); and NZI and Safety (Thailand).

IAG signed up to the UNEP FI Statement on 5 May 2003.
IAG CEO Michael Hawker said: "By signing this statement on behalf of Insurance Australia Group's 12,000 staff, we are putting our commitment to the environment and the communities in which we operate in the public domain and on the public record.

"As a leader in the financial sector and insurance industry, managing the risk we pose to the environment in how we use energy and treat and dispose of our waste is a natural extension of how we want to do business. "For further information visit the IAG's website. External Site Link
