EPA receives and assesses applications to issue works approvals or licences.
Interested people may comment in writing on the application and may request in writing to be notified if the works approval/licence is issued.

Willow Creek Vineyards works approval - WA66126
EPA recently issued a works approval to Willow Creek Vineyard P/L to upgrade their wastewater treatment plant.
Following advertising of the application, EPA received submissions from the public in response to the works approval and held an independently chaired public conference to enable discussion of concerns.
EPA has provided a separate document detailing responses to comments and issues raised prior to and during the conference.

Renex Group Works Approval Application WA65201
Renex Group P/L has been successful in their application for a works approval, which was issued on 9/11/2009.
EPA’s assessment determined that the proposal is consistent with the Environment Protection Act 1970, the relevant State Environment Protection Policies and best practice guidelines. EPA considered all comments and issues raised when making our decision, and our response is detailed in the Response to 20B Conference Recommendations. The 20B Conference Report provides further details on the matters that were raised and discussed at this forum.

Background
EPA received a works approval application from Renex Group Pty Ltd on the 18th June 2009 for installation of an integrated waste treatment and resource recovery facility to treat contaminated soil.
On Tuesday 18th August 2009 a public conference was held under section 20B of the Environment Protection Act 1970, chaired independently by Mr Peter Davies.
The purpose of the conference was to inform the community of the approval process and to ensure that EPA understands the key issues and has all relevant information in considering Renex Group's application for a Works Approval.

Past applications
Clayton South landfill cell application
On 25 August 2008 City of Stonnington, Glen Eira, Monash, Boroondara, and Whitehourse Councils applied to Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) for approval of a new landfill cell (Stage 2) at the premises located at 654-718 CLAYTON RD, CLAYTON SOUTH VIC 3169.
The Stage 2 cell would receive wastes currently disposed at the site, which include municipal waste (both putrescible and solid inert fractions), and pneumatic automotive shredded tyres.
EPA will receive comments on the application until Friday 16 January 2009.
