EREP – Public information seminars

Public Information Seminars designed to facilitate feedback on the draft documents were held throughout Victoria from 26 September to 5 October 2007.

The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) sought seeking comment on the Environment and Resource Efficiency Plans (EREP) program from September 21 to October 19, 2007.

The Information Seminars provided an overview of the EREP legislation, its key elements and the timeframe from the public comment period, to completion of the EREP Regulations and RIS, through to registration and implementation. Attendees  were provided with information on how to provide feedback on the draft Regulations and RIS. A summary of what to expect from the EPA in relation to EREP over the next 6 months was also provided during the seminars.

Guest speakers from companies that had successfully worked through a resource efficiency program provided attendees with a real life example of their experience with environmental action planning and implementation. This included both the challenges and the benefits for their particular organisation and the environment. After close of formal proceedings EPA staff were available to discuss further case studies and to answer questions that attendeeshad raised.
