Scheduled premises
The Environment Protection (Scheduled Premises and Exemptions) Regulations 2007 designate certain industrial or commercial activities (scheduled categories) as scheduled premises. A category might be scheduled for waste discharges or emissions including noise, handling of waste or substances which are a danger or potential danger to the quality of the environment, or for creating a state of potential danger to the environment.
The Environment Protection Act 1970 requires that these sites obtain a works approval before they are built or modified and an EPA licence to operate, unless specifically exempted from these requirements in the regulations, or unless an EPA approval has been obtained for research, development or demonstration purposes.
These sites may also require a financial assurance.
Contact the EPA Information Centre or nearest EPA regional office for further information on the applicability of the regulations.
