The Business & the Environment Programme aims to help a select group of highly influential decision-makers understand the challenges and opportunities of sustainable development, to inspire them to make the necessary changes within their organisations and beyond, and to become champions who will help business and society work together to create sustainable economic development.

One of the goals of bringing this Programme to Australia will be a progression towards building and harnessing innovation within Victoria and Australia’s business leaders. It is hoped that these business leaders will be able to contribute their ideas and experiences to building the capacities of other people and organisations involved in the University of Cambridge Programme for Industry’s activities, as well as those from their own industry sectors.

Australian BEP Seminar for Senior Executives

This Sustainability Covenant will support the development of an Australian based BEP Seminar for Senior Executives. The BEP seminars and alumni activities are internationally recognised as providing a unique opportunity to debate and understand the business case for sustainability with the pre-eminent international figures in the field. These have included leaders working in business, academia, government and non-government organisations.

The inaugural Australian seminar is scheduled to take place from 2-5 October at Milton Park Country House Hotel in Bowral, NSW. More information is available.

The Covenant formalises a partnership to bring the Programme’s seminar forum to Australia and to increase the resource efficiency and reduce the ecological impact of the activities of the stakeholders who will be involved in the Programme. It also aims to facilitate further sustainable business growth in Australia.

Ultimately, the partnership aims to help make Victoria the first place in the world where the environment is routinely viewed as a business opportunity, not a business cost.
