City West Water Limited sustainability covenant
City West Water Limited and EPA entered into the first water industry sustainability covenant on 10 March 2004. The covenant concluded on 9 March 2006. City West Water and EPA entered their second sustainability covenant on 26 March 2007.
The objective of the first sustainability covenant was to drive change with respect to the sustainable use of resources through initiatives with the following key stakeholder groups:
- City West Water
- residential, commercial and industrial City West Water customers
- the water industry, State and local government, and tertiary and research institutions
- the urban development industry.
The covenant allowed City West Water and EPA to work together to develop environmental sustainability, learning that the whole industry could benefit from. Importantly, it is acknowledged that, to help develop a progressive and environmentally sustainable water sector, many different stakeholders need to work together.
