Victorian Floods
Update Information as at January 24
Up to one quarter of Victoria is currently experiencing flooding, specifically in north-western and northern Victoria. On current estimates, 1646 properties are affected, with smaller numbers inundated. Stock loss is also significant and is expected to rise in the days to come.

EPA Victoria is providing advice and support to Rural Councils, other agencies and landholders enquiring about the correct way to dispose of stock and other waste, including contaminated wastes, given the current circumstances.
EPA will also issue emergency exemptions (‘30As’) to manage the disposal of large quantities of waste including dead stock and waste water.
EPA Victoria is encouraging individuals and organisations needing guidance about the correct disposal of stock or other waste during the flood event to call the EPA North-West Regional Office on 5438 1000 or their local council.
EPA is able to grant exemptions to disposal of waste requirements, as well as provide advice and support around a range of disposal, clean up and dead stock issues
The Government announced on January 21 landfill levies would be waived for eight flood affected municipalities, to assist families and communities dispose of waste.

EPA’s Pollution Hotline – 1300 372 842 (1300 EPA VIC) – should be continued to be used by the general public to report pollution events, including those related to the floods.
