Innova Soil Technology Ltd has been successful in their application for a works approval, which was issued on 10/05/2011.

EPA’s assessment determined that the proposal is consistent with the Environment Protection Act 1970, the relevant State Environment Protection Policies and best practice guidelines.  In making the decision, EPA considered all comments and issued raised.

Background

EPA received a Works Approval application from Innova Soil Technology Ltd on 11 January 2011 for treatment of contaminated soils by the process known as Direct-heated Fast-quenched Thermal Desorption at 541-583 Kororoit Creek Road, Altona.

The application was advertised on 19 January 2011 in Herald Sun and local news papers.

The Works Approval application was available for community viewing at EPA's city office and Hobsons Bay City Council.

EPA received 17 submissions about this application. Detailed submissions can be viewed below.

EPA invited all interested parties to attend a public conference on 23 March 2011, held pursuant to section 20B of the Environment Protection Act 1970.

The Chair of the conference has provided a written report on matters raised during the conference which is attached below. The report sets out eight recommendations for consideration by EPA in assessing the application.
