The Carbon and Ecological Footprint Events Calculator measures the Ecological Footprint of your event, as well as the associated greenhouse gas emmisions of your event activities.

Ecological Footprint measures resource consumption across the life cycle and converts this to the amount of productive area needed to supply the resources consumed and assimilate the waste generated. The Event Calculator can help event organisers identify the biggest environmental impacts of an event and help prioritise actions to reduce those impacts. This often results in saving money too!

This tool is useful during all stages of your event; planning, during and after the event. Data may be difficult to get during the planning phase, however, continually updating your projections will help show where improvements can be made and will highlight the impacts of your decisions.

EPA’s Carbon and Ecological Footprint Events Calculator helps organisers plan a low Footprint event by:

  • highlighting the main impacts of an event
  • helping to identify actions to avoid and reduce the impacts - for organisers, delegates, host venues and exhibitors
  • helping organisers plan and achieve a carbon neutral event

The Event Calculator allows you to access your data via email. Simply forward the results to yourself or another person via email. This email link enables you to reopen your Footprint data when connected to the Internet. You can then update or edit your inputs to achieve a more accurate result then send the link to your email address again to save the edited data.
