Glossary
Coupe – Coupe is an area of forest where planned timber harvesting occurs.
Active coupe – This is an area of forest which is currently being harvested or where harvesting has been partially completed.
Completed coupe – This is an area of forest where harvested and site preparation works, such as rough heaping or slash burning, have been completed.
Harvesting season – The financial year in which harvesting was completed.
Environmental impact assessment (EIA) – It is a tool developed and used by the auditor to measure the impact of non-compliance with the audit criteria.
Forest management areas (FMA) – Defined areas of the State that form the basis for forest planning and management. Currently Victoria is divided into 15 forest management areas.
