The building industry

Trends and looking ahead
- The building industry

Both the public and private sectors are realising the advantages of integrating sustainability into design, construction and fit-out of both large and small buildings. In recent years the list of large corporates in Australia to commission buildings with "green building" features includes National Australia Bank, Sensis, and Lend Lease. Additionally governments are mandating for green buildings. For example, the Victorian Government now requires that new office buildings leased or built by the Government meet Australian Best Practice benchmarks for sustainability and environmental standards.

Many companies that supply to the commercial building market, including: architects, builders, office furniture manufactures, and textile companies have adopted Life Cycle Management to take advantage of this growing opportunity, and in some cases, stay in business.
