Noise prevention and control in Victoria
EPA Victoria leads and coordinates activities related to preventing and controlling noise by developing policies, regulations and guidelines, issuing approvals, licences and notices and enforcement. EPA assists other State and local government agencies by providing advice and setting noise standards for use in their statutory processes.
This section describes sources of noise that may concern the community and provides information about the legislation, responsibilities and mechanisms for noise prevention and control.

This section provides guidance on how to deal with noisy neighbours and information about residential noise legislation and residential construction noise.

Proposed Residential Noise Regulations 2008
EPA has proposed new regulations for residential noise. The proposed Environment Protection (Residential Noise) Regulations 2008 address issues raised in consultation, including changes around large-scale residential construction noise.
Residents' Noise Stories
To assist in the review of the Residential Noise Regulations, a story-gathering process was used to obtain views from the Victorian community. Residents came together to share their experiences of noise from neighbours. The noise stories have provided a valuable insight into the issues that can be associated with residential noise.
