Brooklyn air monitoring results for January and February 2016


Two days exceeded the PM10 air quality objective in Brooklyn during January and February.

Observations

Two days exceeded the PM10 objective across January and February this year, which was a similar result to the September–October and November–December periods at the end of 2015. The days that exceeded the standard this year occurred at the end of February during a prolonged spell of dry weather.

More days exceeding the PM10 objective have historically been recorded during March and April than in any other period, so the next two months will tell us whether the initial improvements in local air quality recorded when road sealing works took place last year are being maintained almost a year after the road works commenced. This autumn will also be a season that indicates the magnitude of further air quality improvements required in the local region.
