On 30 May 2005, a sustainability covenant was signed between Sensis Pty Ltd, EPA Victoria and EcoRecycle Victoria (now Sustainability Victoria). The sustainability covenant is a public commitment that the three organisations will work together to protect and contribute to a more sustainable environment. The covenant will operate for a period of two years.
Sensis is one of Australia's leading advertising and information providers, and manages iconic Australian brands such as White Pages®, Yellow Pages®, Trading Post®, sensis® 1234, CitySearch®, UBD®, Gregory's and Whereis®. The initiatives in the sustainability covenant will be developed in Victoria with a view to possibly extending their application to Sensis' national operations.
The sustainability covenant aims to improve the efficiency with which Sensis uses resources to produce its products and services, and to reduce the ecological impact of those products and services. The covenant partners will work together with Sensis' customers to provide them with services that have a reduced impact on the environment. The covenant also aims to assist Sensis' customers to identify opportunities that will reduce their own environmental impacts.
In working towards the goal of sustainability, the covenant partners have identified specific initiatives relating to Sensis' customers, print products and internal operations. By pursuing these specific initiatives, the three parties commit to implementing the covenant's key themes of:
- improving resource efficiency and reducing ecological impact
- life cycle approaches
- engaging customers and partners.
