Grow Me The Money announces 2008 Gold and Platinum sustainability awards
EPA and the Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI) have announced the newest members of the Grow Me The Money exclusive Gold and Platinum Clubs for business leaders in environmental sustainability.
Alto Hotel on Bourke, a small boutique hotel that opened only 2 years ago, is the latest Victorian business to achieve Platinum Club status under the Recognition Program, joining current Platinum Club members Fishprint and Vega Press. Platinum Club members have demonstrated the highest level of leadership in environmental sustainability for their industry and size.
General Manager of VECCI’s new Centre for Innovation and Sustainability Excellence, Kate Nicolazzo, congratulated Alto’s owners, Suzanne and Ricardo Krauskopf, for “doing exceptionally good things for business sustainability within the hotel industry by successfully trialling the latest resource-saving technologies.”
Three more businesses also joined the Gold Club, recognising their significant achievements in reducing resource consumption and improving waste management.
McPherson’s Printing Group Maryborough site have achieved outstanding water savings; Printgraphics in Mount Waverley significantly reduced paper waste; and Waterholes Guest House in East Gippsland showed leadership in the use of solar energy.
Grow me the money is a free program for Victorian small to medium sized businesses interested in environmental sustainability.
The program aims to help businesses reduce their resource consumption by making savings on energy and water and reducing waste. Participating businesses can be rewarded for their efforts through the Recognition Program and reap the rewards by being seen as an ‘environmentally friendly’ business in the community,
VECCI CEO, Wayne K Thompson, said Platinum and Gold Club members can encourage improved business sustainability, not only by mentoring other businesses, but by leading environmentally sustainable purchasing policy.
In agreement, EPA’s, Mick Bourke, said, “Grow Me The Money gives Victorian businesses a lasting platform for business-to-business interaction leading to environmental sustainability.
“It is no easy feat to attain Platinum or Gold Club status,” said Kate Nicolazzo. “These businesses are the cream of the crop in terms of sustainability and they are genuine leaders in their fields,” she said. “We congratulate them and look forward to their continued involvement with Grow Me The Money.”
