Some BIG questions! (activity 7)

These questions could form the basis of debates or group research tasks.

1. Can we reverse global ecological overshoot? (see pages 22-27)
2. Develop scenarios, including policy and actions for ending overshoot.
3. Do poor countries have a right to a first world lifestyle?
4. Will there be consequences if poorer countries strive to achieve a first world lifestyle?
5. What could first world countries do to help poorer countries achieve a better standard of living without increasing the impact on the planet? (look at some of the developments in China)
6. Should we redefine what a good lifestyle involves?
7. What is sustainability?
8. What is it about Australia that makes our Ecological Footprint large compared to say Italy which has a similar standard of living.
