Taylors Road Landfill Community Engagement Steering Committee (TRL CESC)
The Taylors Road Landfill is located in Melbourne’s South East and is operated by SITA Australia (SITA).
The State Government has indicated its intention to rely on the Taylors Road landfill at Dandenong South (formerly Lyndhurst) for “safe management and disposal of industrial waste until 2020”. As a result, EPA, in collaboration with the cities of Greater Dandenong and Casey and the landfill operator, SITA, initiated a community engagement process to be guided by a Community Engagement Steering Committee (CESC).
The Taylors Road Landfill (TRL CESC) began in March 2008. The committee comprises of 20 community members, local businesses, council representatives, government agencies and staff from SITA. The CESC meet regularly to discuss topics such as centre operations, environmental management and local amenity. The CESC is now run by SITA, and is chaired by an independent facilitator, Mr. Bruce Turner of Phoenix Facilitation. In 2010 SITA employed a Stakeholder Engagement Manager to assist with Engagement activities.
If you are interested in further information regarding the TRL CESC, information is published regularly on the SITA Australia website.
