Victorian Stormwater Action Program

In June 2000, the Victoria Government launched the Victorian Stormwater Action Program (VSAP) a three-year, $22.5 million program to improve stormwater management. The funding for the project concluded in June 2003.  EPA has released a report on the outcomes of the VSAP program.

Under VSAP, $19.9 million was invested in 273 stormwater management projects across Victoria.  The remaining $2.6 million was used to develop and implement the program and for research to assist in guiding the strategic direction.  State funding was matched by funds from program partners, boosting the total to around $50 million. The report highlights a range of stormwater management projects including the development and implementation of Council stormwater management plans, education and awareness programs and research into WSUD tools and technologies.  Many councils continue to implement their plans, and some have commenced, or even completed the review of their original plans.
