Lower Yarra

The Lower Yarra section is an estuary, and includes the river downstream of Dights Falls to the Docklands. Land adjacent to the river is used for parks and recreation, residences, industry and the central business district. A number of stormwater drains enter the Yarra in this section, which flush pollution into the river following rainfall. Water quality in this section is also affected by all the upstream land uses in the Yarra catchment. As a consequence, water quality is lower than that upstream of Dights Falls, particularly following rainfall.

River users are reminded that swimming is not permitted in the Yarra River downstream of the Gipps Street Bridge except under permit.

Docklands - Yarra River at Flinders Wharf, upstream of Charles Grimes Bridge
	Medium water quality
Suitable for recreation activities such as rowing, canoeing and kayaking, except after heavy rain.
The E.coli result for Wednesday 6 August is 480 E.coli/100mL. Due to construction work it has not been possible to access the Docklands site since late November 2006, and no samples have been taken.
