EPA uses a range of waste management policies and Regulations to manage waste in Victoria.
Waste management policies
Waste Management Policy (Combustible Recyclable and Waste Materials)
This policy (PDF) aims to ensure that resource recovery facilities are managed in a manner that minimises risks of harm to human health and the environment from fire.
Waste Management Policy (Movement of Controlled Waste between States and Territories)
This policy implements to the National Environment Protection (Movement of Controlled Waste between States and Territories) Measure. It is a nationally consistent statutory framework in Victoria for the management of the movement of controlled wastes between Victoria and other states and territories originating from commercial, trade or business activities.
Waste Management Policy (National Pollutant Inventory)

The purpose of this policy is to implement the NPI NEPM in Victoria.
Industrial Waste Management Policy (Protection of the Ozone Layer)

This policy aims to protect human health and the environment from this risk by providing a management framework and specific requirements for the management of acid sulfate soils in an environmentally responsible manner.
Waste Management Policy (E-waste)
This policy (PDF) aims to reduce e-waste from landfill, increase resource recovery and ensure e-waste is managed in a manner that minimises to risks to human health and the environment.
Waste Management Policy (Siting, Design and Management of Landfills) and variation
This policy (PDF) promotes best practice and continuous improvement in the way we plan, site, design and manage landfills in Victoria. The variation prohibits the deposit of e-waste in landfills unless dispersed in negligible quantities in wastes not otherwise prohibited from disposal to landfill.
Waste Management Policy (Solid Fuel Heating)
This policy (PDF) aims to improve air quality and protect the environment, human health and amenity by reducing emissions from solid fuel heating. It shows how manufacturers and suppliers are to adopt emissions standards. This variation (PDF) incorporates the efficiency standard into the policy.
