EPA has laid six charges each against a Coolaroo combustible recycling company and a director of the company under the Environment Protection Act 1970

The company charged is Phoenix Environmental Group Pty Ltd.

The charges, under the Environment Protection Act 1970, allege that Phoenix Environmental Group had not taken all reasonable steps to protect against risk of harm to human health and the environment from fire. The charges relate to stockpiles of combustible recyclable waste materials at Maffra Street, Coolaroo, which must be stored in a manner that is consistent with the Victorian Waste Management Policy.

As the matter is now before the courts EPA will be making no further comment.
