What it contains

Development of the SEPP (Prevention and Management of Contamination of Land) has involved consultation with a variety of stakeholders and input from an expert contact group. The policy is based on experience gained in preventing and managing contamination of land both in Victoria and elsewhere. It is consistent with internationally accepted standards, the policy principles set out in the InterGovernmental Agreement on the Environment and the National Environment Protection Measure for the assessment of site contamination. This Policy Impact Assessment has been prepared to highlight the importance of the policy, discuss the economic, environmental and social impacts predicted to result from implementation of the policy, and provide the underpinning rationale of the major policy clauses.
