How EPA works with reference groups
Find out how reference groups help us prevent harm to the environment and human health from pollution and waste.
A reference group is a group of people we set up to consult with us on environmental issues.
We work with six industry reference groups:
We also work with a government reference group and a community reference group. Our government reference group is made up of government departments, agencies and other entities. Our community reference group consists of individuals, members of local environment groups and environment experts.
We partner with reference groups to help prevent pollution and waste’s risks to human health and the environment.
Through reference groups, we learn about community and industry’s environmental concerns. Reference groups’ advice and input helps shape our policies.
