EPA’s new website is under construction. It contains links to our previous site while we add information.

Land and groundwater contamination can impact people’s health and the environment. Often, it’s discovered when there’s a change of land use. For example, from industrial to residential.

Common contaminants include:

  • lead and other heavy metals
  • pesticides
  • solvents
  • arsenic.

EPA works to prevent contamination of the environment. We do this to make sure that we can continue to use land in different ways.

We provide information about known contaminated sites, including:

  • test results
  • investigation results
  • warning and safety information
  • any action EPA has taken.
