EPA has a regulatory role in part of the Golden Beach gas project.
The proposed gas compressor is scheduled under the Environment Protection (Scheduled Premises) Regulations 2017. This means that the project needs a works approval to install the equipment and an EPA licence to operate it.
We received a works approval application on 18 August 2020, and accepted it on 8 September 2020. You can read more about the proposal and make a submission on Engage Victoria.
We are due to decide on the works approval application one month after receiving the Minister's assessment of the EES.
We don't have a role in approving:
- the pipeline
- the well drilling
- other infrastructure and site facilities.
The Environment Effects Statement process will consider these parts of the project.
