Partnering with Brooklyn councils and community

Working with council

EPA has been working closely with Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Wyndham and Maribyrnong Councils to protect the Brooklyn precinct environment.

As part of  2017–18’s innovative new Officers for the Protection of the Local Environment (OPLE) pilot, EPA has installed an OPLE in Brimbank Council who will work closely to identify and respond to dust, odour and other community concerns.

EPA contributed to the development of Brimbank Council’s award-winning Brooklyn Evolution Project, a strategy which sets out the longterm vision for the precinct. EPA has a representative on the Brooklyn Industrial Precinct Strategy (BIPS) Committee and reports back to stakeholders regularly on our enforcement work.

For more information on BIPS contact Brimbank Council Strategic Sites Officer: 03 9249 4048 or info@brimbank.vic.gov.au

Brooklyn community engagement

Since 2008 EPA has been helping coordinate and providing staff resources and support for the Brooklyn Community Representative Group (BCRG), its regular meetings, and public events including Open House days and town hall forums to allow the community to liaise with other major stakeholders.
