| Background of offence or contravention | The Accused is the director of BMB Tyre Traders Pty Ltd. BMB Tyre Traders operated a waste tyre storage and transfer facility at the premises of 63 Yellowbox Drive, Craigieburn VIC 3064. On 3 October 2023, Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Authorised Officers attended the Premises in response to a pollution report and counted 11,350 equivalent passenger units stored. The company held EPA registrations for waste tyre storage in relation to sites in Broadmeadows, but not for the Craigieburn premises. After EPA’s inspection, BMB Tyre Traders obtained the necessary EPA registrations to store waste tyres at the Premises. On 4 June 2024, EPA Authorised Officers reviewed the EPA Waste Tracker systems and found that there were no records of waste tyres being received at the Premises on or before 3 October 2023. |
