Calculation of financial assurance for prescribed permission activities

This guide sets out methods for calculating financial assurance amounts. These apply to the following permission activities:

• landfills
• reportable priority waste management
• waste and resource recovery facilities
• bulk storage
• contaminated sites - on-site soil retention.

It includes new methods for bulk storage and contaminated sites - on-site soil retention activities. We have also updated the existing waste and resource recovery facilities method. Changes include:

• the optional removal of landfill gate fees when waste is recycled
• CPI-based cost indexation to help keep financial assurance values current.
