The Department of Defence is testing for PFAS in land and water on and near its bases across Australia. EPA takes environmental investigations very seriously. We are committed to supporting the Department of Defence with its obligations in accordance the Environment Protection Act 2017.

Royal Australian Air Force Base, East Sale
- RAAF Base East Sale – PFAS investigation and management
- The Detailed Site Investigation Report (2017), the Human Health Risk and Ecological Risk Assessment Report (2018) and PFAS Management Area Plan (2018) are available on RAAF Base East Sale.
- EPA has produced the Fact sheet: Consumption advice for recreationally harvested waterfowl (publication 1732) for recreational duck hunters in the East Gippsland Area.
HMAS Cerberus, Royal Australian Navy, Mornington Peninsula

Gaza Ridge Barracks, Australian Army
- Bandiana military area environmental investigation
- The Detailed Site Investigation Report (2018), the Human Health Risk and Ecological Risk Assessment Report (2020) and PFAS Management Area Plan (2020) are available on Bandiana Military Area.
- EPA has produced the Fact sheet: Consumption advice for recreationally caught fish (publication 1735) which includes precautionary advice to not eat carp caught in the Kiewa River between Bakers Lane and the Cudgewa-Wodonga Rail Trail, inclusive of the flood plain area bound by Bakers Lane and the Murray Valley Highway.
