Villamanor Pty Ltd was fined after the incident on 6 October 2025 that left effluent, as well as chicken feathers and giblets, scattered over more than 50 metres of Sommerville Rd to the intersection with Market Rd.

There was more effluent scattered on the road at the intersection of Fairbairn Rd and Proximity Dv in Sunshine North.

Police closed off a section of road while EPA officers ordered a clean-up, after the sludge-like material spread across the road and splattered onto passing cars.

EPA fined the company for the unlawful deposit of waste of more than 50 litres but not more than 1000 litres at a place that was not licensed to accept it.

The clean-up took approximately 45 minutes.

Under the Environment Protection Act 2017 and the Infringements Act 2006, the operator has the right to have the infringement notice reviewed or be considered by a court.

Members of the public can report pollution by calling EPA’s 24-hour hotline on 1300 372 842 or providing details online at epa.vic.gov.au/report-pollution/reporting-pollution
