Reportable priority wastes are hazardous wastes that need to be tracked when moved from one site to another.
If you want reportable priority waste to be removed from your site, transport reportable priority waste, or receive reportable priority waste at your site, you need to use an EPA system called Waste Tracker.
Waste Tracker is designed by EPA Victoria to help the waste industry track the movement of reportable priority waste to meet the duties under the Environment Protection Act 2017.
Under the Environment Protection Act 2017, anyone who handles reportable priority waste must let EPA know every time it changes hands. This includes producers, accredited consigners, transporters, drivers and receivers.
By ensuring that everyone in the supply chain can see what and where the waste is at any point in time, it will help reduce the risk the waste poses to human health and the environment.
Reportable priority waste tracking records information of the vehicle used to carry the waste, and the location that it has been received.
This is to make sure only authorised vehicles are being used and authorised receival sites are safely managing the waste.
Data captured by Waste Tracker provides EPA with real-time visibility over the movement of reportable priority waste around the state.
This information allows EPA to see any unusual activity, and help make sure that the Victorian Government's compliance program, policy and planning are working.
Waste Tracker doesn't replace your commercial transaction records, logistics, or inventory management systems. It uses simple forms to capture real-time information about the place where the waste was generated, who transported it, and the place it arrives at.
You can access Waste Tracker on a computer via the EPA web portal, or for drivers and site receivers, there is also a mobile phone app.
It's simple, fast, and as easy as one, two, three. To start, you'll need to set up your profile with these 3 simple steps.
First, create an EPA portal account. Second, register your company on Waste Tracker by completing a business set-up form. Finally, invite your drivers or administrative staff to be linked to your company's Waste Tracker account.
Drivers and site receivers can download the Waste Tracker mobile app from the App Store or from Google Play.
Whether you're a producer, accredited consigner, driver or receiver, you will find friendly guides and videos on how to use Waste Tracker on our EPA website.
