A Plumpton demolition company that failed to comply with EPA Victoria notices has been fined $9,880.

EPA officers attended a site on Melton Highway, Plumpton following an alert that construction debris was being dumped there. Up to four tonnes of waste including bricks, tin roofing, timber, piping, synthetic grass, roofing insulation, cardboard, concrete, and plastic, was found at the property and an adjacent site.

Royal Empire Pty Ltd was issued with a notice requiring them to provide information that identified exactly what was in the debris, the quantity, whether asbestos was present and where it originated from.

EPA West Metropolitan Regional Manager Julia Gaitan said Royal Empire had failed to meet the deadline for providing the information.

“EPA notices are legal instruments and can’t just be ignored. Royal Empire was told what was required and by when. Failing to provide that without good reason has earnt them a major fine and they will be required to clean up the waste from the two sites,” she said.
