As bushfires continue to affect regional communities and farmers across Victoria, many landholders are faced with the challenge of managing dead livestock. Prompt and safe disposal is essential to protect public health and the environment.

Dead animals left in paddocks can pose serious risks, including the spread of disease, contamination of land and water and unpleasant odours.

Recommended disposal options include knackeries or rendering plants for reuse and processing and licensed landfills.
