Social media community guidelines

We monitor our social media accounts during business hours.

Our approach

We value your comments and contributions we get on social media. And encourage people to join the conversation.

We support well-intentioned, respectful discussion on our channels. By participating, you agree to engage in a courteous and constructive way with our moderators, and community members.

We do not tolerate disrespectful, offensive, crude, or hateful comments.

Moderation

We may hide, remove, report, or take other moderation action on posts, comments, or links that we think are:

  • discriminatory, inflammatory, or potentially defamatory
  • inaccurate, misleading, or unverified information
  • misinformation about environmental risks or pollution
  • incorrect statements about regulation or compliance obligations
  • off-topic, repetitive, or spam
  • racist, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate
  • disrespectful toward another person, including our staff
  • commercial content, advertisements, or promotions
  • campaigning for a product, service, cause, or initiative
  • an infringement of privacy, intellectual property, or legal rights
  • any other content considered inappropriate or harmful at the discretion of our moderators.

Depending on the severity or frequency of the behaviour, we may issue a warning, remove content, report it to the platform, or block a user.

We may also limit or turn off comments or replies on any post or platform at our discretion, including outside business hours.

Protecting your privacy

We'll hide or remove any post or comment if it contains private and personal information.

This includes names, addresses, phone numbers, licence details or identifying images.

This applies to posts and comments that identify our staff too.

We may hide or remove the comment if it is disrespectful or inaccurate. Or if it could compromise the safety or privacy of staff.

If you're defamed in a comment

If you believe you've been defamed in a comment, please contact us immediately.

We'll review the content against these guidelines and let you know the outcome. If you're unhappy with our response, you can make a complaint.

Reporting pollution

Our social media accounts are not an avenue to report pollution or waste. Please go to our website to make a report.
