Dr Andrea Hinwood is Victoria’s first Chief Environmental Scientist. She is an accomplished scientist with specialist expertise in environmental exposures and human health.
Her role is to give EPA advice to reduce the harmful effects of pollution and waste. This helps us give Victorians robust, science-based information about their environment.
She also gives advice to senior decision makers, including:
- EPA’s leadership team
- the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change
- Victoria’s Chief Health Officer.
EPA’s Governing Board appoints the Chief Environmental Scientist as part of the Environment Protection Act 2017.
