If you’re unhappy with the way an EPA authorised officer has behaved, you can make a complaint to us.
Reports and complaints about wrongdoing in the public sector are known as public interest disclosures. They can be made about a public employee or organisation for known or suspected improper conduct or harmful action.
If your report or complaint is a public interest disclosure, you're protected under the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2012(opens in a new window).
Under this legislation, improper conduct includes but is not limited to:
- major risks to environmental or public health
- corrupt conduct crimes.
The Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) has more information. Visit What is a public interest disclosure?(opens in a new window)
If you have a complaint about an action or decision made by us, you can make a complaint(opens in a new window) to the Victorian Ombudsman.

Make a public interest disclosure
You can make a complaint or report about us to IBAC, using their complaints process.
Your complaint should detail the alleged conduct, including:
- who was involved
- what happened
- where and when it happened.
You do not have to give your name. However, if you do not, IBAC cannot contact you if they need more information, and they cannot discuss the complaint if you follow up on it later.
IBAC lets you know if your complaint is a public interest disclosure. If it is, you are protected under the Public Interest Disclosures Act.
To report online to IBAC, visit Report corruption or misconduct(opens in a new window), or call 1300 735 135 for help.
