If you're not satisfied with a decision you've received from us, you can apply to have this decision reviewed by VCAT.

You can apply for a review of our decisions related to:

  • better environment plans
  • environmental audits
  • fees
  • financial assurances
  • notices
  • permissions
  • site management orders.

This includes some decisions made by our authorised officers. Note that decisions made by authorised officers to issue certain remedial notices must be internally reviewed by us before they can be reviewed by VCAT. Learn more about applying for an internal review of a remedial notice.

To see a complete list of the decisions VCAT can review, visit Applications about protecting the environment(opens in a new window) on the VCAT website.

As with some government decisions, you may be able to apply to the Supreme Court of Victoria for judicial review of some of our decisions. Contact a lawyer to understand this option.
