What pollution and waste you can report

The types of pollution and waste you can report to us.

All Victorians have a general environmental duty to report pollution incidents.

Reporting pollution and waste helps us protect our environment and public health. These reports play an important role in helping us investigate pollution incidents.

Call 000 to report major pollution events

If you see a major pollution event that presents an immediate threat to human health or the environment – such as toxic fumes, fire or a large chemical spill – call triple zero (000) to report it to emergency services.

First responders to emergencies are Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Fire Rescue Victoria and the Country Fire Authority.

We are a technical support agency. Learn more about our role in an emergency.
