Changes to waste codes and waste descriptions took place on 1 July 2021 when the Environment Protection Regulations 2021 (Regulations 2021) came into force. The changes to waste codes from Regulations 2009 to Regulations 2021 are outlined in the tables below.
Some waste types are reclassified and represented under new waste codes. Other waste codes are split into specific waste types. For example, A100 was transitioned to A100, A110 and A130.
Landfill and compost waste codes apply administratively only – they do not appear in the Regulations 2021. They signify all wastes that are accepted on site.
