Background
VHM Limited proposed to develop the Goschen Mineral Sands and Rare Earths project. The project is located is located approximately 35 kilometres south of Swan Hill and has an approximate area of 1,534 hectares.
The Project will involve mining and processing heavy mineral sands and rare earths into the following:
- mixed heavy mineral concentrate (HMC)
- zircon concentrate
- rutile product
- leucoxene products
- ilmenite product
- rare earth mineral products.
On 8 December 2024, the Minister for Planning completed her assessment under the Environment Effects Act 1978. For more information on the Goschen Mineral Sands and Rare Earths project and the EES assessment, please visit the planning website.
The project also requires a permission from EPA for onsite power generation and domestic wastewater treatment.
