Renew a Permit
Preparing to renew your permit
Review your permit and conditions to check it is the right one for your activities. Find your permit on the permissions public register.
Complete our permit renewal checklist to help you prepare the information you need to submit your application on our online portal.
You need to sign up to use the portal. If you need help:
- call 1300 372 842
- email contact@epa.vic.gov.au.
You must submit your permit renewal application at least 15 business days before your permit expires. Renewal applications submitted later than this will be rejected and your permit will expire. You must then reapply for a permit.
It is an offence under the Act to conduct a permission activity without a permission.

Permit renewal assessment process
We assess permit renewal applications within 42 business days. We will let you know if we need more information.
If your permit will expire during the 42 business days of our assessment period, your existing permit will remain in force until that period ends.
Renew a registration
You can renew registrations before they expire. Fees apply. Before applying to renew your registration, check:
- are the details on your Registration correct?
- does your activity comply with the activity definition, including any capacity or rate limits?
- has your activity process and capacity stayed the same since you received your Registration?
If you answered ‘No’ to any of these questions, you should get help finding the right permission to confirm whether it is appropriate for you to apply to renew your registration.
Applications to renew registrations must be submitted through our portal at least 10 business days before the expiry date of the registration.
