Duty of persons transporting reportable priority waste

You must have a permission to transport waste classified as reportable priority waste (transport).

You must not transport waste classified as reportable priority waste (transport) without the appropriate permission.

The duty does not apply to a net load of less than 50 kilograms or litres that is being transported for no reward or fee.

Who it applies to

Any business or person:

  • transporting reportable priority waste (transport)
  • allowing the transport of reportable priority waste (transport)
  • transporting controlled waste into Victoria.

What you must do

If you cause or permit the transport of reportable priority waste, you must ensure your waste transporter has a permission to transport it. To check, visit our Public register.

Example

Ben manages a waste transport company that generates waste petrol. This waste needs to be transported to a licensed reprocessing facility.

Ben classifies the waste as code G100, which requires an A10a permit. An A10a permit is for the transport of high-risk reportable priority waste.

Ben looks up our public register. He finds a waste transporter with the appropriate permission.
