In October 2025, the Supreme Court ordered Veolia Recycling & Recovery Pty Ltd to pay $1 million to our Restorative Project Account. As operators of the Hallam Road landfill in Hampton Park, the company failed to comply with:
- its operating licence
- the general environmental duty.
These funds are for a project, or projects, that benefit the environment and local community.
Overview
The $1 million is now available. Our role is to select an appropriate project or projects that:
- can be delivered with the available funding
- benefits the community in the vicinity of the Hallam Road Landfill.
To make a submission:
- attend the community conference on 9 May (recommended)
- ensure your proposed project or projects meet the eligibility criteria. These are listed in the restorative project orders guideline.
Read the timeline below for more information on the timing and selection process.
Direct any questions to restorative@epa.vic.gov.au.
